I will vote for him. But John McCain will not be elected in 2008 for the same reason Nancy Palosi is currently Speaker of the House. In 2006 conservatives stayed home because they refused to show up and vote for [disappointing] compromisers.
The reason Mitt Romney dropped out of the 2008 race is the same reason Republicans lost in 2006. The conservative news radio audience is much smaller than we thought.
I have one older and one younger brother. They are conservatives but not audiences of news radio. I've tried many times to convince them to listen to true conservative media, but they refuse to for some reason. During both of our two most recent family get-togethers we got into relationship destroying arguments over not voting for McCain. Due to my knowledge of who Obama really was through my listenership to conservative news radio, I believed it was worth voting for McCain. In our fights my brothers proved they were too conservative to vote for McCain and told me that they were going to leave their ballot blank for president!
This is why it's so important to convince people to listen to conservative media. They didn't know what was at stake in 2006. They didn't know what was at stake in 2008.
11/5/8 For conservatives in recovery, I recommend listening to Mark Levin and (I'm sorry to say) Michael Savage. The cheery, optimistic hosts like Prager, Hannity, and Hewitt will depress you even more. The reason I prescribe Savage, although he is an emotionally unstable person, he will put the steam back into you, guide you in conservative fundamentals and help you to recognize liberal ideas. Now is not the time to be happy or to listen to happy people. I want to remind you of my analysis of the 2006 election:
Bumped from 11/10/6 "Hannity, Rush, Prager, Hewitt, and Savage are saying the same thing. Republicans lost because they weren’t conservative enough. Does that make sense? The conservative base voted for liberals because the Republicans weren’t extreme enough? So Michael Savage with his hard core, uncompromising conservative principles was right all along? I don’t buy that completely. One thing more frightening than becoming a minority is that Michael Savage was right."
Bumped from 11/14/6 "If the new media really thinks conservatives aren’t conservative enough, they should immediately become members of the Paul Revere Society and take a few lessons on inflexibility from Michael Savage. Savage should become a lot more popular very quickly if they believe what they're saying is true."
