The movie "Pearl Harbor" had just been released - only six months before 9/11/2001; an almost prophetic announcement. Arab terrorists attacked a very small portion of the United States. But while everybody involved was trying to escape the horror, the rest of the nation was trying to identify with the victims and relate to the crisis. People wanted to connect on a personal level and feel like they were doing something helpful.
